Gave birth via C Section as the baby was breech, I was advised by the sonographer the baby was small & that I had little amniotic fluid so an ECV was unlikely to work. The c section operation and recovery room staff and midwives were excellent. However on day 2 I was moved to a normal ward, it was freezing and the bedside light didn't work (so I had to change/ feed baby in the dark. I was in a lot of pain. As the only pain relief offered was ibuprofen and paracetamol I decided not to take it. I also declined to go to bed, because it was freezing and very awkward & painful to get up. The midwives were extremely forceful, wanting me in bed & medicated. I said I was going home in the morning - looking forward to support from my husband and mum- and by now (it was 1am very little point going to bed) The midwife said I didn't seem right, as it was 1am & I couldn't leave, I said don't mean right now! Obviously! Morning arrived, and it became obvious I wasn't going anywhere. Unbeknown to me the midwives had informed a doctor I wanted to leave the hospital and seemed 'perplexed' by my baby?!?!. I ended up being effectively detained by the doctor and having to be reviewed by psychiatric staff! (Who thank God realised I wasn't insane, just because I was cold, fed up &!wanted to go home! I was then able to leave the following day. I have never suffered with depression, suicidal thoughts, self harming or taken drugs! Absolutely shocked and disgusted with their treatment, I would never go there again and only went there out of convenience for family members.

Palliative care was first seen jues 29.3.16 gave good advice, and advised further stay until Wed 30.3.16 to make a hospital bed delivery on that day that was arranged duly arrived. Occupational therapist not able to help my husband, did not know the case that he was unable to get of bed unaided. Wed staff helpful my husband was moved to discharge lounge no ambulances were available. Staff there were very helpful and concerned, and apologetic.

The service we received from the team was first class both for our relatives and for ourselves. They made a very difficult and stressful time much easier to cope with and the attention to detail in the medical support for our relatives was of the highest quality. Many, many thanks for all you did!!!
